The Florida African-American Student Association, Inc. was founded in 1976 with the purpose of developing, implementing,
intensifying and perpetuating a complete program to identify and address educational, economic and cultural concerns of students
of African descent. FAASA represents over 60,000 students in colleges and universities throughout the state of Florida. The
organization serves as a network to develop programs that promote effective communication, unity, respect for African culture,
and excellence in all endeavors. FAASA accomplishes its goals and objectives through the P.A.C.E. Plan. P.A.C.E. is an acronym for Political, Academic, Community/Cultural, and Economic development. Political Promoting
the involvement with and monitoring of local, state, and national issues that affect people of African descent in the political
arena. Academic Developing programs and activities geared toward recruiting, retaining, and graduating students
of African descent at all levels of education. Cultural Developing programs and activities that enhance cultural
development and maintain an autonomous community. Economic Stimulating public and private interest in FAASAs
activities and programs with emphasis on, but not limited to, financial entrepreneurship among members and supporting businesses
and civic organizations. In order to address its needs, FAASA conducts two leadership conferences per year, one in

F.A.A.S.A. consists of five regions:
Region I:
Bay, Escambia, Jackson, Leon, Madison, Okaloosa, and Walton counties.
